Dina Yerima-Avazi was born in Zaria, Nigeria. She grew up in the quiet university town of Samaru where her father worked as a Data Analyst and her mother as a teacher. She studied Literature in English at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and left for Nsukka where she graduated with a master’s degree in 2015 and a doctorate in Comparative Literature in 2018.
She has lived in Jos and now divides her time between Jos and Nsukka where she mixes writing with teaching and critiquing works of literature. A Blitz in the Haze is her first novel. Apart from her novel, she has one children’s book, Go Away Cockroach! (2025) and numerous poems. She has received a number of awards for her creative and academic writing.
